Both Fans And Gillian Aren't Happy About Scully's X-Files Exit?

Gillian Anderson has bowed out of The X-Files for the final time - and even the star isn't happy about how she exited the show.

The show just finished airing it's 11th season to rave reviews by fans and critics. The final episode saw Anderson's character bow out with several revelations being made, including that the father of her son William was Cigarette Smoking Man, that William was still alive, and that Scully was pregnant again - this time to Mulder.

Fans were not happy - and that's an understatement:

"I guess even Gillian Anderson hated the X-Files finale." 

"The X-Files finale was so horrible I completely understand why Gillian Anderson isn't coming back."

Anderson appeared to agree with fans, tweeting: "Oh boy oh boy do I ever hear you."

Even the show's creator Chris Carter admitted that the episode was likely to confuse viewers. "People will either love me or hate me," Carter told TVLine. "I think they'll have reasons for both. "It certainly is one of the most interesting cliffhangers that the show has ever had." As for Scully's exit, Carter warned: "Hard-core X-Files fans know there have been no real endings on the show."
